Random/interesting fact – I’m the biggest Geek you’ll ever talk to! I like to drag my girlfriend to every day one release of the latest Marvel / DC / Star wars movie!

Guilty pleasure – Hmmmmm Peanut butter… In like, Absurd quantities.

Best Gaming memory – This is impossible to choose! But a few that spring to mind – Growing up playing DOOM/Quake with my Dad, playing Final Fantasy 7 on the playstation 1 (With its 4 discs!) or the early Nostalgia days of World of Warcraft.

Favourite Nanoleaf Scene – Again there can’t be just one! So ill list my top 3
1 – Triluminox Energy Crystal
2 – Tropical Waterfall
3 – Northern Lights

When you walk into John Kerr’s gaming studio, you’re immediately mesmerized by his 4 screen display and the array of Nanoleaf Light Panels dancing off the walls. It’s a gaming setup that dreams are made of, and anyone who’s stumbled on his Instagram page will tell you the same. But John can’t take all the credit for his jaw-dropping set-up. In fact, John’s love for gaming can be attributed to someone he’s had a long history with, dating all the way back to the day he was born.

John’s first memories of gaming go back to when he played with his father’s Windows 95. He picked up DOOM at just 6 years oldand it’s been a love affair of sorts ever since then. Games were a hobby that John shared with his dad growing up, and it’s something that still brings them together. His dad even helped with bringing his current setup to life! John says, although his dad isn’t a big gamer anymore, “he still shows an interest in my gaming and actually helped me put my setup together. He came over and built the desk for me!”

But Rome wasn’t built in a day, and John’s gaming studio certainly didn’t come together overnight. “My gaming studio actually took quite a bit of time to come together, over the course of a year in fact.” John explains He started off with a very tiny desk, a single monitor, a broken office chair, and his PC. Pulling inspiration from striking Instagram setups, he slowly added pieces to his studio overtime until discovering the very last piece of the puzzle that would complete his setup. Six months ago, he discovered Nanoleaf’s Light Panels.

“I had seen them in many other gamers studios and it was one of those moments where I couldn’t forget about them until I owned some for myself.”

He started off with a Smarter Kit and built on it until it evolved into the 42-panel gaming setup of his dreams. With the infinite amount of animations and dynamic color combinations created by his Light Panels, the mood in John’s studio is constantly changing and evolving – just as it does in the world of his favorite games. Once he sets the background for his monitors, he just sets the scene on his Light Panels to match it and voila! It’s almost like creating a brand new studio. Instantly.Again and again.A new studio vibe, once again.

“I really do think [the Light Panels] are the key to what makes my studio stand out so much and retain its originality…

…My favourite thing about Nanoleaf is the complete modularity of the panels, your imagination really is the limit. You can make your own space truly original and unique. On top of that the shear amount of color customization and inspiration you can find through the app when scrolling through the thousands of scenes made by others is unbelievable. You’re never stuck for a new scene to enhance your mood, setting or even to match the weather! (I do like to use the Schedule setting to wake me up in a morning to! haha)”

John plans to start his own Twitch Live Stream Channel, but with his full-time Personal Training Career, he only hopes to use his channel to share his love of video games while connecting with others in the gaming community.

And as for the future of his gaming studio?

“Honestly right now I have everything I could wish for, I will always look to upgrade certain parts of my studio as time goes on but I couldn’t be happier with how everything’s turned out.”
