Biggest Indulgence – I have always been fascinated by colors and lights. I used to love the iTunes visualizer as a child. In many ways I think of the Nanoleaf Light Panels as a continuation of that old fascination of mine. The second thing I absolutely love is to bake and decorate cakes. I love coming up with creative ways to use colors and sparkle in my baked goods and often times I gift it to others because even though I would love to eat all of it by myself there is something about the way people light up when they get to eat something sweet.

Confession – The funny confession I have to make is that since you did have a beta tester email for the Rhythm module to get it send early (unfortunately the email arrived at 1 a.m. my time so when I got up all the European modules where already given to other people) I was secretly hoping you would do the same for the Remote which was why I set an alarm for 2 a.m every day of December and had my boyfriend check my email whenever he would go to bed between 12 and 1 a.m for he would always study this long.

In a small town in Germany live three extraordinary young women all taking different walks of life, but they have one thing in common: their love for the Nanoleaf Light Panels. Flurina is a 20 year old Med student with a passion for baking. She was the first of her sisters to welcome Nanoleaf into her life.

“I have been such a huge fan of your company for such a long time. When I first heard about you I was very impressed by the out of the box approach you took to create the light bulbs.”

Flurina started with a Nanoleaf Smarter Kit hung up in her bedroom. She uses her Light Panels as her main source of light.

“Since I hung them up I have barely used the light switch for my normal lighting because the aurora is bright enough.”

But her youngest sister Feline, 11, had a different idea in mind for the Light Panels. She loves the versatility in color and the sound reacting feature of the Rhythm module.

“Every time she has friends over to play, they create another rhythm scene to some song they both like.”

And since Feline’s been using the Rhythm, Flurina’s appreciation for music has flourished.

“The Rhythm has influenced the way I listen to music quite a bit. Whenever I try to decide for a scene I listen a lot closer to the background and the different elements of the music which has made me appreciate some songs that I have been listening to for my entire life even more. Now I come to appreciate different elements of the song while before I was only listening to songs as a whole.”

Before Flurina moved out of her parents’ home to study medicine at Heinrich Heine University, she gave her very first Light Panel Smarter Kit to Feline. Now the Light Panels hang above her bed in her Harry Potter themed bedroom! She incorporates the Light Panels in her everyday life, even at her Harry Potter themed scavenger-hunt birthday party. All of Feline’s friends made their way through her house, going from one clue to the next. When they walked into Feline’s room, they raised their wands and chanted a spell. “Lumos!” They all said, and the Light Panels lit up. In the Light Panels was a hidden message that revealed the next clue to the mystery scavenger hunt.

“It was everyone’s favorite station because it was truly magical!”

Then there’s the last of the three sisters: Emilia (17), a talented musician who not only plays the saxophone and guitar but also has a beautiful voice. Before Flurina moved out, Emilia would come into her room to play music and watch the lights react in sync. Flurina encouraged her sister to continue practicing, and she’s now since saved up enough money to purchase her own Rhythm Edition Smarter Kit. She now has the lights set up in her room as a music note, the perfect touch to an aspiring musician’s bedroom.

These three young women have each found their own perfect use for their Light Panels, and they’ve passed on their love for the panels to other family members.

“ My cousin came by and was so fascinated that he immediately ordered one for his room in Switzerland…and my grandma always tells her friends how our house has every window light up in different colors every day. She is fascinated by it and so are her friends.”

And during the holidays, the light panels take center stage.

“During holiday dinner we change the color of the light according to the decor and the [Light Panels] were constantly on the Christmas rhythm scene dancing to the Christmas songs.”

As for Flurina, she’s continuing to use her panels in her new apartment while she studies to be a doctor at med school.

“I think my absolute favorite part of the [Light Panels] is the way it never gets boring. There is always the choice to create another scene or look at other peoples creation.”

Happy, kind, thankful and appreciative people are what inspire me to bake and what inspires me to hopefully become a doctor one day.
