What's the difference between 4D V1 & 4D V2?
Nanoleaf 4D V2 includes two major upgrades based on customer feedback: enhanced white & color match accuracy, and an improved adhesive & design with the Ultra Flexible Zig Zag Lightstrip for easier installation.
Do I have to turn on screen mirroring all the time?
No, you can also use the Nanoleaf 4D lightstrip as a regular multicolor lightstrip behind your TV to create ambient lighting with solid or gradient color effects.
Is there a difference between mounting the camera above or placing it below the screen?
4D supports multiple mounting options to suit different TV setups. While both placements provide a great screen mirroring experience, mounting the camera above the screen may slightly improve color accuracy. If the camera is placed below the screen, avoid high traffic areas where the camera may be shifted, as this can affect screen mirror calibration accuracy.
Which Scenes react to the colors on the screen?
The 4 Screen Mirror Modes in the Nanoleaf app's "4D" tab all capture the colors on your screen and extend them to your Nanoleaf RGB lights. You can also enable the "Rhythm" effect in these modes to react to both audio and visuals simultaneously. Other Scenes in the Nanoleaf App or on the 4D Controller, such as Color, Dynamic, and Rhythm Scenes, are non-mirroring and use their own unique color palettes.
What is Sync+?
Sync+ is a feature that allows you to virtually connect all compatible Nanoleaf RGB lights in the same space so screen mirroring effects can extend across them based on their relative positioning. You can enable Sync+ in the Nanoleaf App and choose which Nanoleaf RGB devices to include or exclude.
Does the camera record any video footage?
No, the 4D camera does not record, save, or store any footage locally, in the cloud, or on your phone. It only feeds color data to the lights in real time to create the mirroring effect. The camera is activated during initial calibration and when a screen mirroring mode is selected. A magnetic privacy cover is also included so you can cover the camera when not in use.
Can I cut the addressable Lightstrip?
Yes, but you must cut the loose end of the Lightstrip that is not connected to the power cable. Trimming the addressable lightstrip to fit your TV or monitor dimensions helps optimize the screen mirroring experience. Lighting effects will automatically remap to the trimmed length.
What is the difference between the 4 Screen Mirror Modes?
The 4 Screen Mirror Modes—1D, 2D, 3D, and 4D—allow you to adjust immersion based on your content and preferences. 1D provides ambient white backlighting that adapts to screen brightness. 2D mirrors the dominant screen color across the entire lightstrip. 3D scatters all screen colors dynamically across the lightstrip to reflect the overall palette. 4D creates an exact match of your content extended beyond the screen.
