Can I still use the Nanoleaf app after connecting a Philips Hue controller?
Yes. Connecting a Philips Hue controller does not remove Nanoleaf functionality. You can continue using the Nanoleaf app to control your Shapes, create scenes, update firmware, and access Nanoleaf-exclusive features.
Can I use both the Philips Hue app and the Nanoleaf app at the same time?
Concurrent control through both the Philips Hue and Nanoleaf apps will not be available at launch. You can control your Nanoleaf Shapes through either app, with concurrent control planned for a future update.
Will my existing Nanoleaf scenes and automations continue to work?
Yes. Existing Nanoleaf scenes, schedules, and automations will continue to function normally unless otherwise specified. Philips Hue integration adds additional control options rather than replacing existing functionality.
Do I need a Philips Hue Bridge to use the Hue controller?
Yes. A Philips Hue Bridge or Hue Bridge Pro is required.
Will dynamic Nanoleaf effects appear in the Philips Hue app?
Some advanced Nanoleaf features, such as dynamic scenes, music visualizations, and custom animations, may only be available through the Nanoleaf app. The Hue app may provide basic lighting controls such as on/off, brightness, and color adjustments.
Can I include Nanoleaf Shapes in my Philips Hue rooms, zones, and automations?
Yes, where supported. Once connected, Nanoleaf Shapes can participate in compatible Hue rooms, zones, scenes, and automations, allowing them to work alongside Philips Hue lights.
Will firmware updates still come from Nanoleaf?
Yes. Firmware updates for Nanoleaf Shapes using the Nanoleaf Shapes Controller are managed through the Nanoleaf ecosystem. Keeping the Nanoleaf app installed is recommended to ensure your device remains up to date.
If I remove the Philips Hue controller, will my Nanoleaf Shapes continue to work?
Yes. Removing the Hue controller or unlinking the integration will not affect the core functionality of your Nanoleaf Shapes. You can continue controlling them through the Nanoleaf app as before.
Is there any delay when controlling Nanoleaf Shapes through the Philips Hue ecosystem?
Under normal conditions, commands should be processed quickly. Response times may vary depending on your network, the number of connected devices, and the specific automation or integration being used.
Why don't I see all Nanoleaf features in the Philips Hue app?
Philips Hue and Nanoleaf support different feature sets. While common lighting controls are shared, certain Nanoleaf-exclusive features such as Layout Assistant, Screen Mirror, Orchestrator, music syncing, and advanced scene customization remain available only through the Nanoleaf app.
