What's the difference between 4D V1 & 4D V2?
We made two major upgrades based on your feedback:

Do I have to turn on screen mirroring all the time?
No, you can also use the Nanoleaf 4D lightstrip as a regular multicolor lightstrip behind your TV to create ambient lighting with solid or gradient color effects.

Is there a difference between mounting the camera above or placing it below the screen?
4D is compatible with multiple mounting options to allow you to choose the one that best suits your TV setup (ie if you have a console table, mounted TV, etc.) .While both placements provide a great screen mirroring experience, depending on your layout, mounting the camera above your screen may slightly improve color accuracy. If the camera is placed below the screen, make sure it is not in a high traffic area where it is constantly being shifted as it can affect the accuracy of your screen mirror calibration.

Which Scenes react to the colors on the screen?
The 4 Screen Mirror Modes in the Nanoleaf app's "4D" tab all capture the colors on your screen and extend them out to your Nanoleaf RGB lights. You can also enable the "Rhythm" effect for each of these modes as well, to allow them to react to the audio AND visuals from your screen at the same time.
All other Scenes found in the Nanoleaf App or on the 4D Controller such as Color, Dynamic, and Rhythm Scenes are NON-MIRRORING, as each utilizes their own unique color palettes.

What is Sync+?
Sync+ is a feature that allows you to virtually connect all Nanoleaf RGB lights* in the same space so that you can extend screen mirroring lighting effects across them based on their relative positioning.
You can enable Sync+ within the Nanoleaf App, and choose which of your specific Nanoleaf RGB devices you want to include/exclude from it.

Does the camera record any video footage?
The 4D camera does not record, save, or store anything onto the device, the cloud, your phone, or anywhere else. It is simply used to feed color data to your lights to create the mirroring effect in real-time. Additionally, the camera is only activated during the initial calibration step, and after that, only when a screen mirroring mode is selected.
For extra peace of mind, a magnetic privacy cover is included with the camera in the kit, so you can cover it when not in use if you wish to do so.

Can I cut the addressable Lightstrip?
Yes, but make sure you cut the loose end of the Lightstrip that is NOT connected to the power cable. Trimming the addressable lightstrip to better suit the dimensions of your TV screen or monitor size will help optimize the screen mirroring experience. Lighting effects will automatically remap to the trimmed length.

What is the difference between the 4 Screen Mirror Modes?
The 4 Screen Mirror Modes—1D, 2D, 3D, 4D— allow you to dial up the immersion to suit the specific type of content you're watching, and your own prefrences.
1D: Ambient white backlighting that adapts to the brightness on the screen. 2D: The dominant color on the screen is mirrored across the entire lightstrip at once. 3D: All colors from the screen are scattered across the lightstrip at once, transitioning dynamically to encompass the feeling of the palette rather than matching the specific action. 4D: An exact match of your content, extended beyond the screen.

Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to analyze aggregate behavior on our website, with the goal of using these aggregated data sets to improve user experience, website performance, and relevance of the content that we publish. We do not use the user-id-session collection function, and do not analyze individual user sessions using Google Analytics. We do create remarketing lists with Google Analytics, which at aggregate are used to improve the relevance of paid advertising for users who have not opted out of data collection with Google (please see the "Data Vendors" tab for opt-out instructions). These lists cannot be used by Nanoleaf to personally identify you. On the European locales of our website, IP addresses are anonymised by local servers before data is processed by Google Analytics. Google Ads
We use Google Ads to promote our products and services in various countries, including the United Kingdom and the member states of the European Union. Ad products which we utilize include AdWords (text and search), Display (banner), and various formats of video advertising units on YouTube. Google Ads is a subprocessor of aggregate data collected via Google Analytics and shared with Google Ads in an anonymised manner (user-id-session is not transmitted, since it is not collected). Ad personalization signals are disabled by default for users in the EU and UK. This prevents the use of remarketing and retargeting advertisements unless a visitor has opted in for this use.

Facebook Connect
We use Facebook Connect to record behavioral activity related to sales, and to improve the relevance of marketing and advertising to "look-alike cohorts". In practice, this means that an anomymous Facebook user-id is generated after the completion of a sale and sent to Facebook to attribute against a set of user data in their posession. At aggregate, this data is used to improve the targeting of advertising to visitors on Facebook, Instagram, and other properties owned by Meta (primarily by identifying "like" users on these platforms who may find the advertisements relevant).

Twitter Connect
We use Twitter Connect to record certain behavioral actions on Twitter (for example, link clicks to our website) and analyze the associated behaviors on our website with the goal of improving the experience that visitors have, and determine which content is relevant. We use Funnelytics to determine the success of marketing campaigns in aggregate, on narrowly-defined sets of website landing pages and purchase checkouts. This data is aggregated and anonymous in nature, and cannot be used by Nanoleaf to personally identify a visitor to our website.

Shopify
We use Shopify to process purchases on our website in a PCI DSS compliant checkout environment which meets PSD2 requirements as required by law in the European Union. All payment transactions are processed in France, and are compliant with national law as well as the regulations proscribed by the European Commission. When you make a purchase on the Nanoleaf Shop, data essential to the processing and fulfillment of your purchase is shared with Shopify (the processor) and accessed by Nanoleaf as required to fulfill your order (the sub-processor). Purchase data is aggregated and processed by Nanoleaf for reporting purposes (these reports are not shared with other parties under any circumstances). Personally-identifiable information is used only to provide order fulfillment and customer service (either at your request, or proactively when we identify in advance service or logistics disruptions which may impact you). All data collected and stored on Shopify's servers is subject to the right to be forgotten, and you may request deletion of such data at any time by contacting us to initiate the request on your behalf. At our direction, Breco facilitates the communication of commercial and non-commercial messages based on the permissions which you gave during the sign-up process. Some examples include limited-time promotions, general company news and updates, or product-specific news and updates related to devices which you have indicated that you own (or have purchased through the Nanoleaf Shop on our website). All data collected and stored on Brevo's servers is subject to the right to be forgotten, and you may request deletion of such data by contacting us.
