Physical setup your Downlight
- This should be installed by a qualified electrician.
- Make sure the wall switch in the room you’re setting up your downlight in is turned OFF.
- Turn OFF the power to the room at the main electrical panel or breaker box before installation.
Simply replacing existing recessed downlights at home? Skip to Step 2.
Cut a Hole in the Ceiling
Plan and mark out your light placement before drilling or cutting any holes. Be careful not to cut any wires hidden in the ceiling. If you are unsure, please work with a qualified electrician.
For the 4” Downlight: Cut out a hole with a circle diameter of 4-¼” (108mm)
Use a drywall saw to follow the circle outline and cut out an opening for your downlight.

Connect Junction Box to Ceiling Wires
Warning
Do not attempt this if you are not familiar with electrical systems. Contact a qualified electrician instead.
- Remove one of the knockout holes found on the side of the junction box.
- Insert the electrical cable found in your ceiling through this hole and into the junction box.
- Wire the box by:Green Ground Wire
Inserting the green ground wire into the connector with the green wire.
White Neutral WireInserting the white neutral wire into the connector with the white wire.
Black Live WireInserting the black hot/live wire into the connector with the black wire.
- Close the box.
Connect Downlight and Place Into Your Ceiling
- Connect the downlight to the junction box.
- Place the junction box through the cut out hole and lay it on the ceiling.
- The junction box should not be on top or leaning on your downlight, or blocked by any insulation.
- Pull the spring clips on your downlight fixture up and push the downlight into the ceiling.
- Turn your power and breaker back on – your downlight is now ready to be paired!
