Where can I use BR30 Bulbs?

BR30 bulbs are ideal for recessed ceiling fixtures, can lights, and other wide-beam applications. They're perfect for living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms, and other spaces where bright, even illumination is desired.

What is Matter?

Matter is a universal smart home standard that allows compatible devices from different brands to work together. It helps future-proof your smart home by enabling seamless compatibility across major ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.

What do I need to use these bulbs with Matter?

To connect your bulbs to a Matter-compatible smart home ecosystem, you'll need a compatible Matter controller (smart home hub) and a Thread Border Router. You can also set up and control the bulbs directly with the Nanoleaf App over Bluetooth, without a hub, although some Matter features and remote smart home controls will not be available.

How can I control the BR30 Smart Bulbs?

Control your bulbs using the Nanoleaf App, your preferred Matter-compatible smart home app, voice assistants, or a standard wall switch for basic on/off functionality. They also work great with our Sense+ Wirless Switch. Brightness, colors, Scenes, and schedules can be adjusted through the Nanoleaf App or your smart home ecosystem.

Why should I use Matter over Thread instead of Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is used for quick setup and direct control through the Nanoleaf App. Matter over Thread provides faster response times, improved reliability, greater range, lower power consumption, remote access through your smart home ecosystem, and support for advanced features such as Desktop App control and Screen Mirror.

Can I control multiple bulbs together?

Yes. Group multiple Nanoleaf lights together to control colors, brightness, Scenes, schedules, and automations simultaneously using the Nanoleaf App or your preferred Matter-compatible smart home ecosystem.

Can I use these bulbs with a traditional dimmer switch?

No. Smart bulbs should not be used with traditional wall dimmer switches because both the bulb and the dimmer attempt to control brightness. For the best experience, leave the wall switch on and dim your lights using the Nanoleaf App, voice assistants, or your smart home ecosystem. We also recommend our Sense+ Wirless Switch.

How bright are the BR30 Smart Bulbs?

Each bulb produces up to 1000 lumens with a wide 110° beam angle, providing bright, even illumination for larger spaces. You can also dim the bulbs from 1% to 100% and choose from over 16 million colors or tunable white lighting from 2700K to 6500K.

Do these bulbs fit standard recessed ceiling fixtures?

Yes. Nanoleaf Smart LED BR30 Bulbs feature the standard BR30 bulb shape with an E26 base (screw-in style), making them compatible with most recessed ceiling fixtures, can lights, and other fixtures designed for BR30 bulbs.
