**Nanoleaf App Requires Bluetooth or Thread border router
We always recommend pairing your lights in the Nanoleaf App first, before pairing to a smart home ecosystem for additional features.
Heads up! To connect to a smart home ecosystem, you will need to use Matter over Thread, and will need:
Matter-Compatible Smart Home Hub
A Matter-compatible smart home hub (which might just be a software update away on any current hub you might have. Or if you’re starting from scratch, here are lists from Apple, Google, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings)
Thread Border Router
A Thread border router (which again might be hiding in a device you already own)
Some smart home hubs act as Thread border routers as well, so you won’t necessarily have to get two separate devices. Here are some Matter-compatible smart home hubs that double as Thread Border Routers:
Apple HomePod mini, Apple HomePod, Apple TV 4K (2nd generation and 3rd generation WiFi + Ethernet 128GB model)
Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E), Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max (learn more)
Echo (4th Gen) (learn more)
SmartThings 2018 Hub (IM6001-V3P01) and Aeotec Smart Home Hub (learn more)
