Standard Pairing Process with iOS Pairing for iOS
Thread
If you have a compatible Thread border router set up in your home (like Apple HomePod mini), your Essentials Lightstrip will automatically begin using Thread with no additional steps required.
Standard Pairing Process for iOS
To ensure a smooth pairing process, please make sure you have the following things ready:
Requires iOS 13+, turn ON Bluetooth
Found on the back of the Lightstrip Controller and Welcome Card/Quick Start Guide.
Download and Open the Nanoleaf App
You can find the official Nanoleaf App in the App Store. Make sure you have the latest version.
Pair Your Lightstrips
- On the Dashboard, tap the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Tap “Add Device +”
- Select the Essentials tab and then “Start Scan” on the model being paired.
- Tap the Pair button on the device you want to pair with.Option A
The magnifying glass can be used to identify the device by causing it to flash. This is disabled 15 minutes after the light is powered up for security.
Option BAn alternative method for identifying the device is by looking at the three characters at the end of the device name, which can be matched up with the characters next to “ID:” printed on your light near the Matter code, as well as on the Welcome Card/Quick Start Guide.
- Scan the Matter QR code on the Lightstrip or on the Welcome Card/Quick Start Guide. Alternatively, select Pair Manually, input the 11 digit pairing code, and tap Next.
- The Nanoleaf app will pair with the device and ask you for permission to access your network to check for available Thread networks, and then provision the device to Thread if one is available.
- Name your device and assign it to a room.
- If a smart home hub and compatible Thread border router are present in the home and detected by the Nanoleaf app, you will be provided with the option to connect your light to Matter. Otherwise, you will be taken back to the Dashboard.
- Continue with the following steps if you’re presented with the “Add To An Ecosystem” screen:Option A
Tap “Connect”
Option BOn iOS, you will automatically be prompted to add the light to Apple Home.
Option CAlternatively, you can do this at a later date by accessing your Lightstrip settings within the Nanoleaf App and tapping Connections.
- Pairing must be initiated within 15 minutes of the light being powered on. Disconnect and reconnect your lights from power to re-enable Matter pairing (this only works when the device has not already been paired via Matter).
- On the Dashboard, tap the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Tap “Add Device +”
- Under Essentials, Select Essentials A19 as your product.
- The app will automatically open up the pairing window.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to either:Option A
Scan the QR code
Option BEnter in the 8-digit pairing code found on your Elements Power Supply Unit, Controller, or Quick Start Guide/Welcome Card
- Your Nanoleaf Lightstrips should now be connected and ready to go.
How can one setup be controlled by multiple iOS users?
This is accomplished with the Apple Home App and the Nanoleaf App.
Primary User
- Open the Nanoleaf App.
- Select the More tab. · · ·
- Select Users.
- Invite the secondary user with their iCloud Account.
Secondary User
- A notification will appear for you to accept.
- In the Home App, select the home icon in the top left.
- Select Home Settings, a list of homes will appear.
- Accept the home that has been shared with you. This will give you control of the Lines as well as any other HomeKit devices in the same home.
