Connects using Matter over Wi-Fi over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A compatible Matter hub is required for Matter smart home control. Bluetooth is used for setup.

Why You'll Love It:

More than a standard downlight: Get 16M+ colors and tunable whites from 2700K to 6500K, transforming conventional recessed lighting from fixed illumination into customizable lighting for everyday tasks, entertaining, and ambiance.
Bright, accurate illumination: Delivering up to 550 lumens with a 42° beam angle and CRI ≥90, each downlight combines functional overhead lighting with the color and smart features typically added through separate smart bulbs or fixtures.
Smart control built into your ceiling: Adjust brightness, colors, and whites, then add Dynamic Scenes, schedules, Circadian Lighting, Apple Adaptive Lighting, Screen Mirror, and Sync+ instead of relying on a traditional wall switch for basic on/off control.
Matter over Wi-Fi: Connect over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for Matter smart home control without requiring a Thread Border Router. Works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings through a compatible Matter hub.
Designed for a connected home: Control through the Nanoleaf App, Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings, and pair with the Sense+ Wireless Switch for convenient wireless control beyond conventional recessed lighting.

Use them across kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and other indoor spaces where you want built-in lighting without sacrificing color or connected control. With a 25,000-hour LED lifetime and multiple profiles available depending on region, they're designed for long-lasting everyday illumination.

What are Nanoleaf Smart Recessed Downlights?

Nanoleaf Smart Recessed Downlights are built-in smart ceiling lights that combine vibrant RGB colors, tunable white lighting, and Matter smart home compatibility. Available in Matter over Thread and Matter over Wi-Fi models, they deliver the same premium lighting experience with different connectivity options to suit your home.

What sizes and profiles are available?

Nanoleaf Smart Recessed Downlights are available in multiple sizes and profile options depending on your region, including 3", 3.5", and 4" models in both Standard and Ultra-Slim designs. Check your regional product selection to find the best fit for your installation.

Where can I install Smart Recessed Downlights?

These downlights are designed for indoor recessed ceiling installations throughout your home, including kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and home offices. Always confirm the cutout size and installation requirements before purchasing.

What is Matter?

Matter is a universal smart home standard that allows compatible devices from different brands to work together. It helps future-proof your smart home by enabling seamless compatibility across major ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.

What do I need to use these downlights with Matter?

Requirements depend on the model you choose. Matter over Thread models require a compatible Matter Controller (smart home hub) and a Thread Border Router. Matter over Wi-Fi models require a compatible Matter Controller and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Both models can also be set up and controlled directly through the Nanoleaf App.

How can I control the Smart Recessed Downlights?

Control your downlights using the Nanoleaf App, your preferred Matter-compatible smart home app, voice assistants, or a standard wall switch for basic on/off functionality. Brightness, colors, Scenes, schedules, and automations can be managed through the Nanoleaf App or your smart home ecosystem.

What are the benefits of Matter over Thread and Matter over Wi-Fi?

Nanoleaf Smart Recessed Downlights are available with either Matter over Thread or Matter over Wi-Fi, depending on the model and region. Both deliver the same Matter smart home experience, including compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and other Matter-compatible ecosystems. Matter over Thread offers fast response times, low-power mesh networking, and increased reliability with a compatible Thread Border Router, while Matter over Wi-Fi connects directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network for simple setup and seamless smart home control.

Can I control multiple downlights together?

Yes. Group multiple Nanoleaf lights together to control colors, brightness, Scenes, schedules, and automations simultaneously using the Nanoleaf App or your preferred Matter-compatible smart home ecosystem.

Can I use these downlights with a traditional dimmer switch?

No. Smart downlights should not be connected to traditional wall dimmer switches because both the light and the dimmer attempt to control brightness. For the best experience, leave the wall switch on and adjust brightness using the Nanoleaf App, voice assistants, or your smart home ecosystem.

Do I need an electrician to install these downlights?

Nanoleaf Smart Recessed Downlights are designed for recessed ceiling installation using spring clips. If you're replacing or installing wired lighting and are unfamiliar with electrical work, we recommend using a qualified electrician and following all local electrical codes.

How bright are the Smart Recessed Downlights?

Brightness varies by size and model, with output ranging up to approximately 550 lumens. Every downlight also offers 16M+ colors, tunable white lighting from 2700K to 6500K, and smooth dimming from 1% to 100%.
