Troubleshooting the App

FAQ

How many panels can one power supply or one Light Panels Smarter Kit support?

Each Light Panels Smarter Kit comes with 9 panels and 1 power supply. Each power supply can power up to 30 panels. Which means each power supply can power up to 1 Light Panels smarter kit and 7 additional 3-panel expansion packs.

Lifehack: Don’t settle for just one Light Panels Smarter Kit, the more panels the merrier!

How do I attach the panels to the wall?

We included high quality double-sided adhesive pads inside the Light Panels Smarter Kit for attaching the panels to any clean, flat surface. Be sure to watch the mounting videos above for tips and tricks on installing and removing panels.

We’d also like to mention that you will need to use your hands and creative judgement to attach the panels to the walls, in case that was not clear. The mounting tape will not, I repeat, will not mount the panels to the walls for you. It doesn’t have hands.

Though wouldn’t that be great?

What tools do I need to install the Light Panels?

No tools needed! Just your bare hands. 🙂

Can it produce regular white light if I wanted to use it as a regular light source?

Absolutely! You can control the color temperature of the white light from soft candlelight all the way up to brilliant daylight white. (2200K – 6000K)

In other words, the Light Panels have the right stuff to be the life of the party, but it’s also got the right light to work or study under too. Because let’s face it, we need to use this in our own homes, and we like to work hard and play hard. 😛

Can I use voice control to dim the lights?

Yes you can! For example, you can say things like “Hey Siri, dim my lights to 30 percent.” or “Alexa, dim my lights to 10 percent.” or “OK Google, turn on my lights.”

Take a brief moment to let that awesome fact sink in, then if you wish, you can also do a little dance. We certainly did.

Do I need a hub to operate this?

No hub required. The Light Panels are controlled through your WiFi connection.

Unfortunately the Light Panels will not be paired to your Nanoleaf Hub if you own the Ivy Smarter Kit. However, rest assured, all Nanoleaf Smarter Series products are controlled using the same Nanoleaf Smarter Series App. Which means that you can also add the Light Panels and your bulbs into the same lighting scenes that you create.

Woohoo! Ya welcome.

Does the Light Panels work in high voltage countries?

Yes, the Light Panels has high and low voltage versions to ensure global compatibility. Just make sure you select the right version for your region. North America, Japan and Taiwan uses low voltage, while most everywhere else uses high voltage.

Silly westerners, always trying to be different what with their driving on the right hand side of the road and using the imperial measurement system.

Can I use this outside?

No, the Light Panels is intended for indoor use only. Any outdoor use is not recommended, but if you choose to use it outdoors please do let us know how it turns out. 😉

Can I put this in my shower?

Short answer is No. Long and snarky answer, if you wish to break it you can use it in the shower, at the risk of also being electrocuted in the process. But since you’re in the shower already, cleanup after would be easy…

Will this work as floor tiles?

We don’t recommend using it as floor tiles because there’s the risk of spilling liquid onto it. However, if it is under a plexiglass, protected from liquid and extremely heavy weight, it would work just dandy.

How do the panels connect together?

Using our the small linker pieces, the panels connect together easily like Lego pieces, and only need one Power Source to power them all. (1 Power source powers up to 30 panels)

How many devices can control the Light Panels?

For iOS, one device will be used to setup the Light Panels, then that user can send out access invites to other devices (as many as you want!).

For Android, it’s the wild west. As many users as you want, and they’re all admins. Cowboy up!

Will it hurt my eyes to look directly at the light?

Absolutely not! In fact, the only thing that would result from directly staring at the light panels are a state of euphoria and perhaps a tingly sensation in your toes from falling in love. Your eyes will thank you for this delicious experience.

But from a technical standpoint, the LED panels look like OLED if you are into that kind of industry talk. For they rest of us… they be smooth like Barry White. Or Frank Sinatra, or Lauryn Hill. Or Jarrod James. Or Maipei. Or Charlie Chu. Choose the generational reference that best suits your situation.

Can I use my Windows Phone to control the Light Panels?

Negative, the Light Panels is only compatible with iOS and Android devices. Windows Phones? BlackBerry? No, sorry. Unless by some stroke of luck, one of those devices you bought happened to get shipped with Android. Time for a new phone*? =)

*Note: Nanoleaf will not be responsible for buying or paying for your new smartphone.

Once I install the Light Panels panels, is it easy to remove and rearrange the layout?

Yes, we purposely chose the included double-sided tape so that you can easily remove the panels without damaging paint. You can rearrange the panels as much as you’d like.

You will need to buy more mounting tape for rearranging the panels. We recommend Command Tape, which is available at most Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware stores. Or Amazon.com.

Can I use my voice to change the colors of the panels?

iOS Users

Yes you can! You can use voice control to change the colors of the lights and the color temperature of your white light. For example “Hey Siri, change my lights to pink.”

If only real life worked more like the Light Panels right? “honey, change the colors of my bedsheets to blue.”

Did I just say that? I meant “honey, these flowers are for you.” No, wait, come back! … well, at least I still have Siri.

Hey Siri, do you love me?

Android Users

You’ll need an Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant app.

Safety Warnings

Don’t step on it. Don’t get it wet. Don’t throw the panels at people. Read more below =)
